Homemade Key Lime Pie – Traditional Recipe

Today we are going to show you how to make a traditional Key lime pie. It’s super simple and it’s great for hot summer days because you serve it nice and cold, and you don’t have to bake it long in the oven so you don’t heat up the house.

First thing we need to do is make the crust. We use some melted butter and some graham cracker crumbs, and we blend these up in a food processer. If you don’t have a food procesers, you can use a blender and do it in batches. Or you can even put them in ziplock bag and use a rolling pin or anything similar.

Add some sugar and add a little bit of vanilla too. Just get this all mixed up and once it’s really evenly combined, dump it into a pie pan, and just kind of start patting it around and spreading it out starting from the middle and just work your way out to the edges. It can be a little tricky to get it even, but do your best and I promise your best will be good enough.

Ok, and then for the edges just kind of use your fingers to try to make the top level. Once you’ve got it all evenly done, put it in the oven at 350 for about 12 minutes to get it nice and hardened up.

While the crust is baking we can go ahead and start on our filling.
